WGSM FEATURE ON THE TOUCH-TONE FEE - JUNE 10, 1987

This is a news item that aired on Long Island's WGSM-AM on June 10, 1987 concerning a controversy I was involved in with New York Telephone. We at 2600 had started a campaign to abolish the touch-tone fee since it was basically a fee for nothing. (The tone was generated by the customer; all the phone company had to do was not ignore it. Instead they were charging a fee to accept it.) This feature was part of the Bruce Herbert afternoon show. The piece on the 2600 campaign airs at around 24 minutes in. (WUSB alumnus Doug Bell appears in an unrelated story at around 21 minutes in.)
