WEST SAYVILLE GARBAGE SCANDAL - 1982

Here's a fun assignment I went on for "The Voice of Long Island" with friend of WUSB David Ruderman on January 7, 1982. There was a bit of a scandal in the Town of Islip in a community called West Sayville where a resident was having her garbage rejected for not following the rules. So we drove down there to see the garbage for ourselves - and we were able to make some corrections to the story that had run in Newsday. No Pulitzer, but it was still worth it. (An edited version of this piece appeared on the January 9, 1982 edition of "The Voice of Long Island," available in our archives.
