ANTI-SHOREHAM NUCLEAR POWER PLANT DEMONSTRATION - JUNE 5, 1983

This is unedited footage from the anti-Shoreham nuclear power plant demonstration that took place on Sunday, June 5, 1983. I did a short interview with Long Island Lighting Company spokesperson Jan Hickman. The turnout was less than expected but that didn't dampen the spirit of the protesters. They were quite open with what they were planning and what motivated them. I had a great interview with Kevin Duggan of the Critical Marks affinity group and got some comments from people in the Narcoleptic affinity group. There was singing, discussion amongst the demonstrators, and an announcement from LILCO. After a final warning from the cops, the arrests began. I was particularly struck by the level of courteousness between the protesters and the police. And, of course, in the end the protesters won. Shoreham never came online.
