NEW 'OFF THE HOOK' CONTAMINATED WITH AUDIO VIRUS
Posted 29 Mar 2007 03:06:51 UTC

Listeners are advised to proceed with caution if they have downloaded the most recent edition of "Off The Hook." A piece of malicious code was broadcast during the phone-in segment (we've determined it was the caller who never said a word) and then later digitized when the show was archived on the Internet. This poses no risk as long as the audio is not played back on a computer. You can listen to the show by burning it to a CD and playing it back on a CD player that is not connected to a computer. (We recommend destroying or isolating the CD after use.) Do not attempt to play the show on an iPod or digital MP3 player which attaches to a computer or you may corrupt all of your audio files. This warning only applies to Windows and Mac users. Those of you using Linux or BSD platforms will not experience audio file corruption as the virus will immediately format your hard drives.
