Setting up a new account can be done over the telephone.  An $80 deposit is required for all residential customers, which can be billed to you and will be refunded after 18 months if you maintain an excellent payment record.

(Note:  All of Arlington and Tarrant County, including Fort Worth, share the 817 area code.  Dallas does not share the 817 area code.) 

Garbage/Recycling Pickup:

Cable Television:

Public Safety:

Emergency:
For any emergency requiring assistance from the Fire Department, Police Department, or ambulance service, call 9-1-1.

Licenses & Permits:

Vehicle Registration
If you are a new resident of the state of Texas, to register your vehicle you must pay a registration fee, a new resident tax, and a transfer fee.  Before registering your vehicle, you must have it inspected at a state-approved Safety Inspection Station.  After your vehicle has passed inspection, bring the completed inspection form, proof of liability insurance, your out-of-state driver's license and your title or out-of-state registration to the Tarrant County Sub-Courthouse (address below). If your liability insurance is out-of-state, bring your declaration page from the vehicle insurance policy.  If your vehicle is leased, bring the lease agreement or another document that shows that sales tax has already been collected.  If you do not have a Texas driver's license, you will need to pay your fees in cash; checks will not be accepted.

Driver's License:
Texas state law requires that you transfer your out-of-state driver's license to a Texas license within 30 days of your arrival.  Prior to obtaining your new license, your vehicle must have passed a vehicle safety inspection, and it must be registered (see Vehicle Registration above).   Bring proof of registration, your valid out-of-state driver's license, and your Social Security card with you to:

Handitran:
Handitran is a special transportation service available to citizens of Arlington, Pantego and Dalworthington Gardens, who are age 65 or older or who have mental or physical disabilities.  For more information on this service contact the Handitran Office at 501 W. Meals on Wheels:
Meals on Wheels is available for residents of Arlington, Mansfield, and Kennedale who are homebound and do not have anyone available to make them a noontime meal.   Meals are delivered by volunteers around noon, Monday - Friday.  For information call (817) 277-3705.
