How many more times will we wake up to hear about yet another stupid file being distributed throughout the net via email and opened by clods using Microsoft Outlook? At least one more.
This time the media is rushing to report on the "Naked Wife Virus" which entices people into opening an attachment called NakedWife.exe which then winds up deleting files and even forcing users to reinstall the operating system. It's affecting the usual crowd of corporate users who don't seem to learn not to open attachments blindly. We doubt this will affect anyone who takes even a modest degree of security precautions.
One interesting sidenote to this occurence is the fact that whoever wrote this made a fake Flash file that opens with the logo from a company known as JibJab Media. No doubt many will blame them for this even though they had nothing to do with it. We constantly get mail from confused and angry corporate users who think we sent them a virus just because our name appears in the subject. If it wasn't so sad, it would be funny.
