After igniting a storm of controversy with recently published remarks comparing Pacifica protestors to al Qaeda terrorists and calling for the sale of the WBAI and KPFA commercial licenses, Pacifica vice chairman Ken Ford has resigned.
A notice of the resignation appears on the Pacifica web site.
The resignation is the latest in a series on the beleaguered Pacifica National Board, under fire for its perceived role in the mainstreaming of the five Pacifica stations and the firing and banning of dozens of longtime station members. A little more than a week ago, Pacifica Executive Director Bessie Wash, one of the main people behind the December 22 "Christmas Coup" at WBAI, was fired by the board chair, former Los Angeles City Councilman Robert Farrell.
WBAI hosts "Off The Hook," the long-running weekly hacker show hosted by members of 2600.
