COURTROOM ADVISORY FOR TUESDAY'S HEARING
Posted 30 Apr 2001 23:30:00 UTC

For those people planning on attending Tuesday's DeCSS hearing in New York City, there are a few things you should be aware of. As always, security in federal buildings is somewhat tortuous. However, Tuesday is expected to be even worse as there is some sort of terrorist trial or hearing scheduled. We're told it could take up to two hours to get into the building. Be aware that no recording equipment or telephones will be allowed in the courtroom. Stuff like that will have to be checked. It's also been suggested that people dress neatly so as to emulate respectable members of society. Wearing your special May Day "Smash The Fascist State" t-shirt probably wouldn't be appropriate.

The hearing will be held at the 2nd Circuit courthouse in New York, 40 Centre Street (tall 30-story classic building with a gold pyramid on top), in the fifth floor ceremonial courtroom at 10 AM. The best subway stop is Brooklyn Bridge. We're not entirely sure what time we will be heard but we do advise getting there early.
