WBAI LOSES ONE OF ITS MOST FAMILIAR VOICES
Posted 29 Apr 2005 19:39:20 UTC

The staff of 2600 and "Off The Hook" joins with the WBAI family in mourning the loss of Fred Kuhn, longtime WBAI receptionist and on-air personality. Fred's voice was one you would have heard whenever you called the station's offices and he was often the first person many of us saw when being introduced to the radio station, having worked as the receptionist since the 1970s. (His on-air name was Fred Geobold.) Throughout the adversity of various WBAI/Pacifica crises and throughout his own deteriorating health condition over the past year, Fred remained optimistic, friendly, and filled with humor. The station won't be the same without him.
