We never said it would be permanent.
Since January, we have been offering a 60 percent discount on available back issues from the 20th century. We did this in order to help clear out space in our bulging warehouse and it's worked out quite well. So on January 1st, we're going to be putting the price back to where it was.
Until that day comes (which won't be long at all), you'll be able to get individual back issues from 1984 to 2000 for only $2.50 apiece, if they're still available. We still have a bulk issue discount for 2001-2010 and we will surely have some kind of a deal for the entire 1984-2011 period once the dust settles this weekend.
Remember, 2600 back issues never really go out of date. Some of the older ones have really made for some interesting reading, particularly with articles that predict where technology is heading and focus on privacy concerns from the 1980s and 1990s. Understanding the history is essential in building the future. And the history of the hacker world is a fascinating one indeed.
