05.01.01 FORD HEARING RESCHEDULED
The hearing in Michigan for the new Ford lawsuit that was scheduled for Wednesday has been rescheduled for Friday, May 18 at 2 pm at 231 W. Lafayette Boulevard, Room 707 in Detroit. Part of the reason for this is the apparent inability of the plaintiffs to properly serve us.

05.02.01 APPEAL HEARD IN 2600/DECSS CASE
Our appeal in the DeCSS case was heard on Tuesday before the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals. We had a packed courtroom that hung on every word after patiently sitting through five other cases. The decision could take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several months to be announced.

05.03.01 SHAPESHIFTER CASE DELAYED
The case against our layout artist ShapeShifter, scheduled to be heard on Wednesday, has been delayed while the court schedules a trial. When his lawyers demanded a jury trial on Wednesday, there was no immediate availability of a judge. This could change on very short notice and the trial could be held anywhere from Thursday to sometime in June. We will keep you updated here.

05.03.01 'FREEDOM DOWNTIME' TO SCREEN AT OHIO FILMFEST
The 2600 documentary "Freedom Downtime" will be screened at the Athens International Film and Video Festival, currently taking place at the College of Fine Arts in Athens, Ohio. Our film will be shown this Friday evening at 7 pm. The festival started in 1974 and is defined as "a week-long celebration of independent, 'outsider' cinema, video, and digital/multi-media." It's also our very first appearance at a film festival anywhere. We hope to see a large number of attendees.

05.10.01 2ND CIRCUIT COURT ASKS FOR 1ST AMENDMENT CLARIFICATION
In what we consider to be good news in the DeCSS appeal, we received an order from the 2nd Circuit today vacating the previous order seeking a Supplemental brief and directing the parties to answer 11 questions in 25 pages by May 30. The tone of these questions indicate that they are taking our First Amendment arguments very seriously.

05.11.01 PACIFICA BACKS OFF LAWSUIT THREAT TO CRITICAL DOMAINS

05.11.01 2600.COM HIJACKED THROUGH NSI FOULUP

05.11.01 UPDATE: NSI FIXES DATABASE PROBLEM
Fortunately, we were able to track down the right people at Network Solutions Inc. (NSI) and our domain problems have been taken care of. Whois information may not be completely updated until Tuesday but we're told that any disruption to our domain is extremely unlikely.

05.13.01 CARAVAN TO DETROIT PLANNED FOR FORD HEARING
We have moved into full swing for this coming Friday's hearing in defense of Ford's lawsuit against us. The 2600 van will be called upon to make the journey through upstate New York and Canada into Detroit, hopefully picking up additional vehicles along the way so that we have a caravan by the time we hit Detroit.

05.14.01 PROTECTIVE ORDER MOTION FILED IN FORD CASE
Our legal team has filed a Protective Order Motion in the Ford lawsuit, which is designed to protect us from any funny business that Ford or their friends in Michigan may be planning. Since members of 2600 will be in Michigan for the hearing on Friday and since we don't ordinarily spend any time within the jurisdiction of Ford, we want some assurance that this whole thing won't be used as a shortcut to have us served with all kinds of other lawsuits they may be conjuring up. We're told this kind of thing happens often, so it pays to be safe.

05.15.01 EXPERT WITNESSES, CARAVAN STOPS, DONATIONS NEEDED FOR FRIDAY'S HEARING
As Friday's hearing in the Ford lawsuit grows closer, we're calling upon those concerned with freedom of speech to participate in a number of ways.

In just a single day of fundraising, we've managed to raise one twentieth (five percent) of our total legal bills for the Ford lawsuit. Supporters can make contributions through our Internet store for any amount starting at one dollar. We want to thank those of you who came forward - it's already made a significant difference. With your support and that of others, we'll get through this thing.

A reminder - "Off The Hook" will be airing for three hours on Tuesday instead of the usual one hour. It begins at 7:00 pm ET and runs until 10 as part of the WBAI spring fundraiser.
