VERIZON OUTAGE FINALLY OVER AFTER FOUR DAYS
2600 has become the victim of what is either an example of epic incompetence or sheer malice on the part of Verizon. Whichever it is, we have suffered devastating losses as a result of their inability to restore connectivity to us since severing our Internet connection on Monday. As our website is run at a different facility, we're able to get this information out to the world in this manner. However, all of our email as well as access to vital files necessary for the completion of our Spring issue has been cut off since Monday. In addition, orders on our store and ticket sales to The Next HOPE have been seriously disrupted. |

This is it. If you have been intending to submit a talk proposal to us
for The Next HOPE, it's now or never. We already have a nearly full
schedule but there is room for a few more good talks. The absolute
deadline is the end of this coming weekend. After Monday, the doors are
closed. Send your submission to speakers@hope.net ASAP if you want to
be considered as a speaker. If you've already sent in a proposal, there
is no need to send it again. If it's accepted, you will hear back from
us shortly.

We have three scheduled tracks and one unscheduled one which will result in well over 100 hour long presentations. We had more submissions this year than ever before and also more preregistrants so this looks like the biggest HOPE in history. Yes, this is it. There will be a public hearing next Monday, August 23rd at 9:30 am in New York City at 250 Broadway on the 16th floor. This is a meeting of the Subcommittee on Zoning and Franchise and it's the last one we know of where the issue of Vornado's proposed demolition of the Hotel Pennsylvania will be addressed. (The Hotel Pennsylvania is the home of our biannual HOPE conferences and is host to hundreds of thousands of travelers from around the world each year.) |

LEFTOVER HOPE SHIRTS AND TESLA BILLS NOW AT OUR STORE
It took us a while but we've gotten our leftover merchandise together from The Next HOPE and finally thrown it onto our store. We've got a limited supply of t-shirts from the conference in whatever sizes are still left and at a reduced price. We'll even throw in a badge for good measure! (This is all in addition to The Next HOPE DVDs that have been available since early August.)
In addition, we've got more of those Nikola Tesla bills from Serbia that were such a big hit at the conference. Yes, one of the greatest hackers and inventors of all time has money designed in his honor and somehow we've become the main source of these bills for the hacker community.
