will track the movements of thousands of visitors to New York City.
||FIRST SPEAKER SLOTS ANNOUNCED AT THE LAST HOPE|
The very first of the speaker slots for The Last HOPE have been announced with many more to come next week. We have had more submissions than ever and will need to add an additional track in order to accommodate the best of them. What follows are some of the highlights to date.
||SECURITY EXPERTS TO DISCLOSE MAJOR FLAWS AFFECTING OVER 95% OF ALL LOCKS|
This summer, hackers from around the world will be teaming up with lock picking and security experts to show the public exactly how insecure their locks are. Recent studies have proven that locks of all varieties (including so-called "high security" locks) can be compromised, some by persons with a minimal skill.
||THE LAST HOPE TO FEATURE HACKER RADIO|
At The Last HOPE conference, hackers will broadcast their minds and their iPods.
In the center of the summer's top hacker event will be a small isolation booth. "Radio Statler!" as the station is called, will send out a three day broadcast of all-original material. From the center of Manhattan, around the clock, discussions of the past, present, and future of technology, creativity, and humanity itself will be transmitted.
||ADDITIONAL SPEAKERS ANNOUNCED FOR LAST HOPE CONFERENCE|
We are in full swing in the speaker selection and scheduling part of The Last HOPE. What follows is the next installment of our list of confirmed speakers and the presentations they will be giving at the conference. We have accepted many more and will be listing some of those in the next week. Since we've added a new track this year, we've been able to keep the submission process open rather late. But this will soon be coming to an end. June 15th is the absolute cutoff for speaker submissions. If you want to give a scheduled talk at The Last HOPE, you must submit it to email@example.com by that date.
||SPECIAL "HOPE" RATE AT HOTEL PENN SOLD OUT - PLAN FOR ALTERNATIVES|
The special HOPE discount rate for rooms at the Hotel Pennsylvania is now sold out -- if you want a room there, you'll have to book it at the normal rate, currently around $250 per night. You can do so either online or by calling +1 (212) 736-5000. You may (or may not) also be able to find better rates by dealing with travel agents, online hotel consolidators, and the like.

||FULL LIST OF TALKS FOR THE LAST HOPE RELEASED|
The list of talks we've just come out with for this year's HOPE conference

conference space. The Last HOPE will take place from July 18 to 20, 2008
at the Hotel Pennsylvania in New York City. Full details on registration
and participation can be found at http://www.hope.net.
||HOPE PREREGISTRATION ENDING FOR OVERSEAS ATTENDEES|
June 30 is the last day for preregistration for The Last HOPE conference for all overseas attendees. As we can't guarantee that the price at the door will be the same as the price being offered now, we suggest people who are coming from overseas preregister for the conference ASAP so your tickets don't arrive after you've already left.
||FINAL SCHEDULE FOR THE LAST HOPE RELEASED|
We now have the entire schedule for The Last HOPE conference posted in a
variety of formats. The talks span three full days using three tracks.
In addition, there will be a special fourth track for unscheduled talks
that people can sign up for at the conference. The rooms are labeled
Hopper, Turing, Engressia, and Zuse.
||SUMMER ISSUE OF 2600 RELEASED|

||"THE BEST OF 2600" NOW IN BOOKSTORES WORLDWIDE|
We're happy to announce that our long awaited book ("The Best of 2600") is now on sale at bookstores around the world and available through such online services as Amazon.
||AUDIO AND T-SHIRTS FOR THE LAST HOPE NOW AVAILABLE|
We have gone through the talks that were given at The Last HOPE conference in July and encoded the audio for streaming and downloading. As you no doubt missed quite a bit if you were in attendance and most certainly missed a whole lot more if you weren't even there, this is the best way to get the full HOPE experience. We will also have DVDs available on the 2600 store in the very near future.
||WUSB NOMINATED FOR MTV-U AWARD|
We're happy to announce that WUSB, the flagship station for "Off The Wall" has been nominated as one of the best college radio stations in the United States by the folks at mtvU. WUSB has been instrumental over the years in encouraging diverse and controversial radio programs of all sorts. In addition to the currently aired "Off The Wall," the station was the home of the famous call-in program "Brain Damage," a show that led to the formation of WBAI's "Off The Hook." While WUSB has thus achieved quite a following in the hacker/technology community, there are so many other places where WUSB has had an impact. It was the first radio station in the United States to have a regularly aired reggae program and currently broadcasts music of all genres throughout the course of a typical week. Stations like WUSB are essential in exposing new artists and introducing the world to their music.
The voting for best station is open to anyone at http://woodies.mtvu.com/nominees/college_radio.
||AUTUMN ISSUE OF 2600 RELEASED|
The Autumn 2008 issue of 2600 is now out and making its way to bookstores and mailboxes across the globe. If you're not yet a subscriber and want to have 2600 coming directly to you instead of having to hunt it down every few months, then all you have to do is subscribe. It's never been easier.
||DVDS FROM THE LAST HOPE NOW AVAILABLE|
We now have over 100 DVDs from The Last HOPE available at our online store. This massive amount of material covers all three tracks from last summer's conference and is by far the biggest amount of DVDs we've ever had to deal with. If you missed the conference, or if you somehow weren't able to attend 100 talks in 3 days, then this collection most definitely has something you'd be interested in. We've come up with special packages so you can save based on how many you get. Visit The Last HOPE DVD section here.
||"THE MINISTRY OF TRUTH" LATEST ADDITION TO ARCHIVES|
Another radio show from years past has been dug up and is now available for downloading or streaming. "The Ministry of Truth" was a short series in 1984 that was the predecessor for future programs such as "Brain Damage" and "Off The Hook."
